Helen McCullough graduated from York University with an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree Double Major in 1985. She graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1995 and was called to the Bar in Ontario in February 1997. She is also accredited on the Rolls of NSW in Australia as a Solicitor.
While attending York University, Helen worked in a real estate law firm as an assistant for several years. During Law School Helen worked at a legal aid clinic practicing criminal law and as the Conference Coordinator for Osgoode Hall Law School, organizing various conferenced and special programs including the Intensive Trial Advocacy Workshop and the Trial Advocacy Course.
Helen articled with a Criminal Law firm and worked for a short time with that Criminal firm after being called to the bar. She opened her own practice in downtown Toronto when she found that, due to family commitments, she needed to have a local base. She quickly realized that many of her criminal clients were involved with domestic and child protection law and, expanded her practice to include both family and child protection law to better represent her client. She focused on the litigation side of the law, but has also had a demonstrated commitment to assisting clients in resolving matters outside of court in a dignified and client focused manner.
Moving forward Helen has redirected her focus in the family law area to settlement and collaborative law as a consequence of her belief that many family clients will benefit from negotiation and settlement rather than the costly, acrimonious atmosphere of the courtroom.
Helen is a sole practitioner lawyer running her own law firm focusing on family law settlements and collaborative law, real estate, wills and notarizing. Helen provides honest and frank advice and assists clients in resolving their issues in the most cost effective and least stressful manner possible.

Collaborative law is an alternative to the traditional court-based approach that avoids costly court proceedings, preserves relationships and greatly reduces stress and the time required to reach a mutually agreeable outcome. Whether that is a Divorce, Separation Agreement, Parenting Plan etc., we can help.
A Collaborative approach operates under the assumption that the parties involved are the best decision-makers for their futures, and the futures of their children, not a judge. This means the timeline of the overall path to resolution is within the control of the two spouses/partners and determined by their ability to work together in good faith.
